2 Timothy 2:1–2 As for you, therefore, my child, be clothed with inward strength by the grace which is in Christ Jesus; and the things which you heard from me personally in the presence of many witnesses, these things commit as a trust to trustworthy men who are of such a character as to be capable of teaching others also. There is a flow to understanding and to learning that is designed by God and part of the learning DNA of all humans. Learning is like physical development. A baby first rolls over, then balances himself on his knees, then kneels, crawls, stands while being supported, then walks with support, then independently; then eventually he is swooshing down ski hills in Colorado. It never starts with the ski hills. If you notice, older children often take on the characteristics of their parents. This is not due to lectures, but to observing life, day by day. Day by day, situation after situation is usually silently observed and is vital in the formation of the child. Obviously, Jesus knew this in that when He called his Disciples, He called them to "Follow Me." The Disciples were not overly talented and not overly gifted, but they were special because of their proximity to Jesus. Christianity is really about God, not about us. It is really about loving God and loving man. It is not about impressing God and impressing man. Christianity is about giving up control to the only One who can control. It is about dying, not living, and seeing that this death brings life. Christianity is about God fixing the problem of sin and the effects of sin. Throughout the years we have been victimized by a spiritual telephone game. The originator of the message knew what the message was, and was clear in conveying this message. Then, as we have passed it on, further and further from the origin, the message has gotten twisted. Vince Lombardi, the legendary football coach for the Green Bay Packers, understood this problem in football and came to his team one day, held out a football and said this: "Gentlemen, this is a football." In other words, he was saying that the problems the team was encountering were a problem of fundamentals that could only be corrected by going back to the fundamentals and reframing, refocusing, and recapturing their simplicity and significance. We invite you to investigate, join and participate with the "Omega Force." Please feel free to click the tabs and investigate the opportunities. At some point you will be asked to join in order to continue, and we hope you do just that, and join a force that will help shape the next generation of leadership. |
